Mark Fitzgerald is the Skating Director of AZ ICE Gilbert. He was a competitive skater for more than 17 years, reaching the Junior-World and World Figure Skating Championships as career highlights.
Mark specializes in teaching Freestyle, Moves, Stroking & Ice Dance, as well as Pole Harness Instruction, Dartfish Video Analysis, music editing and skate sharpening. He is also a Certified EDEA skate technician.
Mark was recently nominated by the Professional Skaters Association for their prestigious Peter Kollen Sport Science EDI award for his contributions to the sport of figure skating. Additionally, he was also chosen as one of 8 Business Specialists for U.S. Figure Skating. He has trained around the world with multiple World and Olympic Coaches. He has been teaching skating for 20 years.
Additionally, he has run 2 additional skating facilities on the east coast and recently retired as the President of the Copper State Skating Club for 5 years since it’s inception.
His company, Rink Tank Interactive, created the ‘Skate Coach’ app series for U.S. Figure Skating, as well as the Elite Sk8 app series for iOS, creating the most comprehensive set of figure skating tools available in the world today.
Patti started skating at the age of 5 and has been teaching recreational and competitive figure skating for 35 years including singles, pairs, dance, and moves in the field. She has coached skaters from learn-to-skate classes through Regional, Sectional, Junior National, National, and International competitions. Patti has also been the director of several skating schools in the Midwest where she was in charge of all aspects of ice shows including, music editing, costumes, choreography and set design. Throughout her many years of coaching she has also enjoyed the comradery of team teaching with the likes of Libby McFadden Scanlan, Cindy Watson Caprel and World and Olympic Coach & Champion Oleg Vasiliev. As an amateur skater, Patti trained with Olympic coach Pierre Brunet in New York City and was the dance partner of World and Olympic coach Richard Callaghan. As a team, they earned the prestigious United States, Canadian, and International Gold Medals. Current Member of U.S. Figure Skating and the PSA.
Hannah started skating at the age of 6 in Aliso Viejo, California. She now trains here in Gilbert, where she actively competes under the Copper State Skating Club. She has 9 years competitive experience and has been teaching and assisting for 5 years. Hannah also continues to work towards earning her Gold’s in Moves in the Field and Freestlye, and currently has achieved her Juvenile Freeskate and Junior Moves in the Field. Hannah loves working with kids of all ages, and hopes to pass down her love for the sport to the next generation.
Kayluh is currently still actively competing and has participated in various competitions throughout AZ, CA, and NV; including being a National competitor in National Showcase. She’s taught itty-bittys with their first steps on the ice, as well as freeskate skaters and young adults. Kayluh specializes in building the skaters foundations and transitioning the “Learn-To-Skater” into a competitor. Promoting proper technique, artistry, grace, flexibility, a healthy work ethic, and self-confidence is what she strives to bring out in each child (And having some fun while doing it!). Has completed various levels in Freestyle, Moves in the Field, and Ice Dancing. Currently a member of USFSA and PSA.
Brenna began her skating career in the learn to skate program 10 years ago. Since her first day on the ice she has developed a love for the sport that she still has today. She is an 8-time regional competitor and still continues to skate. She also has competed in national showcase winning a second place medal.
She also is a gold medalist for her moves in the field and a silver medalist for freestyle. She began her coaching experience 3 years ago with the learn to skate program as a helper. She loves to share her knowledge and joy for skating with the upcoming generation. She is a member of the PSA and USFSA.
Emma, a Martha’s Vineyard native, skated under World and Olympic coaches while training in Simsbury, Connecticut during a 10 year competitive career. She has been coaching for 10 years in the Phoenix area teaching freestyle, moves and choreography. She is a gold medalist in moves in the field and holds 5 PSA ratings including Senior freeskate and certified moves.
Susan began skating at the age of 4 in Dearborn, Michigan. After completing all of her Basic Skills, and Freestyle requirements within the program, she pursued a competitive skating career for 16 years, competing in Freestyle, and Synchronized Skating. She worked with top Olympic and World Level coaches in Michigan and Delaware, where she also completed her Pre Gold Dances. Susan also skated with “The Magical World of Disney on Ice”, today known as “Disney on Ice” playing many different characters. Susan graduated from ASU with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Psychology in 1993. As a former Preschool/Pre-K teacher, and “Gymboree Play and Music Instructor,” Susan is especially gifted in working with young skaters.
Dyllan started figure skating 11 years ago in Glendale, Arizona. She is a triple gold medalist in freestyle, moves & ice dance. Dyllan is also an 8-time regional competition, 3-time regional champion, 3-time sectional competitor & a 5-time national competitor, and the 2009 United States Junior National champion. She is currently a student at Grand Canyon University, where she is majoring in Elementary Education. She specializes in freestyle, choreography, spins, moves in the field & stroking technique.
Katlynn started skating at the age of 6 in Peoria, AZ and at age 14 moved to California to train in Riverside, CA. She trained competitively for 15 years and is a Regional champion, Sectional medalist, National competitor and medalist, and International gold and silver medalist. Katlynn teaches all levels and ages. Specializes in technique in jumps, spins, and choreography with precise detail. Katlynn has coached for 3 1/2 years and has trained students at Regional and Sectional level. Currently a student at PVCC and ASU studying Business Entrepreneurship. Is a current member of USFS, PSA, and LTSUSA.
Sher has been skating for 30 years. She grew up skating competitively in Hawaii. She was trained by one of the world’s most innovative technical and off-ice skating coaches. She has a Master’s Degree from NAU in Teaching. Sher enjoys working with skaters of all Learn to Skate Levels. Specializes in Beginning Skaters of all ages. Kodi has been skating for 8 years, and she is still very much in love with the sport of figure skating. She is a double-gold medalist in Moves in the Field and Freestyle. She has also passed up to her Pre-silver in Ice dance. She is currently a member of Learn to Skate USA as well was U.S. Figure Skating. She teaches all ages of skaters, as well as birthday parties and more!
Jennifer is a National Singles Competitor, as well as a Regional and Sectional Medalist, with more than 12 years competitive skating experience. During most of her competitive career she was trained by legendary World and Olympic coach, John Nicks, in Southern California. She is a U.S. Figure Skating Silver Medalist in both Figures and Free Skating, has completed her Bronze Ice Dance tests and has trained extensively in ballet and jazz. She now enjoys sharing her passion for figure skating and passing on her knowledge to help develop skaters of all ages and abilities. Current member of USFS and PSA.
Originally from Canada, Cassandra started skating at the age of 8, and has loved the sport ever since. Cassandra has a B.A. in Elementary Education with an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Cassandra is the Figure Skating Director for Special Olympics Arizona. Cassandra loves to teach skaters of all ages and abilities. Cassandra encourages and teaches her skaters to never give up, have fun, and love the sport of figure skating. Current Member of U.S. Figure Skating and PSA.
Sarah is currently still a competitive skater and combines her strong dance choreography background into her teaching. She was a dance choreographer for Seton Catholic Preparatory High School. She is CPR & First Aid certified, and is a second year student at ASU Polytechnic Barret Honors college. Sarah loves to work with beginners and is comfortable teaching freestyle & moves in the field.
Toni is a U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field, and a Silver Medalist in Freestyle. She has also passed through her 3rd figure test. She also earned her BS in Civil engineering from U of A. Originally from Michigan, Toni has learned from National through Olympic level coaches/skaters. She began coaching in Spain, where she was previously a rated coach with the Spanish Federation and studied flamenco dance at the renowned Amor de Dios studios. Current Member of USFS, ISI, PSA
Heather is an ISI World Silver Medalist and has over 20 years of skating experience. Originally from Minnesota, Heather fell in love with figure skating after retiring from competitive gymnastics. Heather has a strong passion for coaching and teaches all ages of recreational and competitive skaters. She also strives on having fun, good sportsmanship and developing well-rounded athletes.
