Please note: All instructors are independent contractors. Skaters must still purchase the ice time (Public Skate sticker, Adult Skate admission, 30-minute freestyle session, etc.). Payment to an instructor is arranged and completed separately.

BIO:

Holly Harrington is the Skating Director of AZ ICE Gilbert.  Holly has been associated with the Gilbert facility since the day it opened.  She brings with her an impressive figure skating resume including twenty-four years of coaching and professional skating experience.  Holly’s Amateur accomplishments include a gold medalist in Freestyle, Southwest Regionals competitor, Pacific Coast Nationals competitor and she was an Alternate to the 1992 Nationals.  Professionally, Holly toured the Pacific Rim and Europe with Disney’s World on Ice and South America with Hermanos Fuetos Gascal.

Susan began skating at the age of 4 in Dearborn, Michigan. After completing all of her Basic Skills, and Freestyle requirements within the program, she pursued a competitive skating career for 16 years, competing in Freestyle, and Synchronized Skating.  She worked with top Olympic and World Level coaches in Michigan and Delaware, where she also completed her Pre Gold Dances.  Susan also skated with “The Magical World of Disney on Ice”, today known as “Disney on Ice” playing many different characters.  Susan graduated from ASU with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Psychology in 1993.  As a former Preschool/Pre-K teacher, and “Gymboree Play and Music Instructor,” Susan is especially gifted in working with young skaters.

Dyllan started figure skating 15 years ago in Glendale, Arizona. She is a triple gold medalist in freestyle, moves in the field, and ice dance. Dyllan is also a retired Team USA member, 8-time regional competitor, 3-time regional champion, 3-time sectional competitor, a 5-time national competitor, and the 2009 United States Junior National Champion. She is currently achieving a bachelors degree in Human Resourcing and has been Senior Coaching for 6 years. She specializes in freestyle, choreography, dance, spins, and moves in the field.

Laura Patterson has been involved with the skating world for over 26 years as a competitor and coach.  She has coached private figure skating and hockey lessons for over 15 years in the Chicagoland area and now in Arizona since 2016.  Laura specializes in coaching spins, jump technique, and enhancing programs under the  International Judging System (IJS).

Throughout her skating career, Laura has trained and competed under National, World, and Olympic coaches through Senior level. She is a gold medalist in Moves in the Field and Freestyle, holds her PSA Senior rating in Freestyle, and Certified rating in both Moves in the Field and Group instruction. Laura is a National Technical Specialist and Regional Data Operator Official for US Figure Skating.

Laura has coached multiple students to achieve their gold medals in Moves in the Field and Freestyle, and continues to coach skaters from the Learn to Skate level through Senior level Regional competitors.  Specializing in the breakdown of skating techniques to optimize power, speed and agility on the ice, Laura has coached team power skating and individual Junior A hockey players from the the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL), a Canadian Jr. A league.

Laura has a degree in Psychology and also holds her CrossFit Level 1 Certification.  Now living in the Phoenix area, she is a Realtor throughout the Valley.

Laura is Currently a member of U.S. Figure Skating, the PSA, and USA Hockey.

Originally from Canada, Cassandra started skating at the age of 8, and has loved the sport ever since.  Cassandra has a B.A. in Elementary Education with an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education.  Cassandra is the Figure Skating Director for Special Olympics Arizona.  Cassandra loves to teach skaters of all ages and abilities.  Cassandra encourages and teaches her skaters to never give up, have fun, and love the sport of figure skating.   Current Member of U.S. Figure Skating and PSA.

Heather is an ISI World competitor and has been coaching since 1998.  Originally from Minnesota, Heather fell in love with figure skating after retiring from competitive gymnastics.  Heather has a true passion for coaching and teaches recreational and competitive skaters of all ages.  Having fun is a #1 priority for Heather’s team of skaters along with good sportsmanship and developing well-rounded athletes.  Current USFS and PSA Member.

Originally from Michigan, Toni began her coaching career overseas in Madrid, Spain. Her coaching philosophy is based around her holistic approach to instruction and her belief in the strong individuality of the sport of figure skating. She approaches each skater in a way that supports or utilizes his/her own unique skills, gifts, and individual goals.  Toni enjoys coaching strongly competitive skaters (freestyle and showcase), recreational skaters who are committed and goal oriented, and skaters who are interested in navigating the US Figure Skating or ISI test structures.  She is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, has also studied the art of flamenco dance with various renowned artists in Spain, and was a past performer here in the valley.

Hailli started skating at the age of 6 and has been skating for 19 years now.  She is a Double Gold Medalist in Freestyle and Moves in the fields.  She is also a 9 time Regional Competitor for single skating and competed at Junior Nationals in Pairs as well.  Hailli’s passion for skating helped start her coaching career 5 years ago as a helper on Learn To Skate.  She is looking forward to growing the future of the sport.  Hailli is also PSA certified, USFSA Member and a Collegiate member of The Copper State Figure Skating Club.

Sue Burdick brings over 19 years of coaching experience to AZ Ice Gilbert as an ice dance instructor.  Her coaching style is high energy, enthusiastic and encouraging.  She tailors her instruction to the learning style of each student in order for her skaters to attain their goals. She has brought many skaters from the Preliminary ice dance level all the way to achieving their Gold Medal.  

Throughout her skating career, Sue trained and competed under National, Olympic, and World coaches at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Spring, CO. Sue and her ice dance partner were Southwest Novice Ice Dance Champions. She also skated professionally in The Ice Capades, touring the East Coast.

Sue graduated from The University of Arizona with a degree in Radio/Television, and became a writer producer in the television industry for 10 years, working for Turner Broadcasting, WGN-TV and The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Sue specializes in Ice Dance, Basic Skills, Moves in the Field and Finesse work for Freestyle Programs.  She enjoys coaching skaters of all levels.  She is a gold medalist in Ice Dance, and is a current member of USFSA and PSA.
